What does a physical therapist do?
Physical therapists facilitate the development of gross motor skills. They focus on improving balance, coordination, endurance, strength, range of motion, body mechanics, and mobility. They also use and instruct in assistive devices as needed.
Should my child receive physical therapy services?
Children with the following issues could be considered candidates for physical therapy:
- Delayed gross motor skills
- Difficulty with mobility, walking, crawling, sitting, etc.
- Neurological conditions affecting mobility
- Decreased flexibility or range of motion
